If there’s one dish I love so much I could eat it three times a day, every day, it’s pizza. Neapolitan, deep dish, calzone, New York style: I love pizza in all its forms and influences. When I was invited to the opening of a new Montreal pizzeria, I literally jumped for joy! Come discover Locali with me, a new Italian-Quebecois concept by Groupe NO. 900.
Italian Classics with a Montreal Twist
Located at 1028 Saint-Zotique Street East, in the heart of Rosemont, the new pizzeria Locali is a neighbourhood restaurant where Italian classics are revisited with local ingredients, in a modern, accessible, and generous style of cuisine. It’s all about flavour, without unnecessary frills. Local products are highlighted: cheeses, flours and meats from local producers, as well as community artisans, are in the spotlight.
Enjoy comforting and nostalgic classics designed to be shared: pizza, lasagna, pasta Romanoff, chicken parmigiana, and more. And of course, a sweet treat to finish: lemon cake, chocolate-hazelnut mousse, or tiramisu. There’s even a kids’ menu for growing budding gourmands. See the full menu.
A Culinary Journey Between Naples and New York
Locali is a new concept from NO. 900 Group, well known for its Pizzeria No. 900 restaurants, which we absolutely love! At Locali, they don’t serve Neapolitan pizza, but rather New York-style pizza, or “Québécois style,” as the founder of Pizzeria NO. 900, Alexandre Brunet, calls it. The pizzas have a perfectly thin, crispy crust and are made with ingredients bursting with flavour and freshness.
At the helm of the restaurant, chef and co-founder Fiodar Huminski serves up time-tested classics, including his famous pizza dough, for which he earned a podium place in the world pizza championship, mamma mia!
A delicious, unifying, and accessible experience
The name “Locali” evokes a neighbourhood restaurant where it’s good to gather. It makes you feel at home and you can’t wait to return. In a decor reminiscent of your nonna’s living room, with period photos and vintage plates, you feel welcome and you know you’re going to eat well.
The inspiration behind the restaurant’s concept comes from the first Italian families who immigrated to North America, who adapted their nonna’s recipes with local ingredients. True to this precious heritage, Locali serves generous and comforting dishes.
All dishes are $30 and under, with appetizers under $10. The 11″ tomato pizza is only $10 – try finding a similar value elsewhere, good luck! PS: From Sunday to Tuesday, enjoy a classic 11″ pizza for $10, for takeout or delivery. That makes the start of the week a little brighter!
An Italian Food Lover’s Favourites
Those who know me know how much I adore pizza, but also all things Italian. I still remember the exquisite flavours of my last trip to the land of pomodoro and parmigiano!
At Locali, I loved the pizza, which is so crispy and bursting with flavour. Even a “simple classic” tomato and mozzarella cheese surprises our taste buds and makes them sing with joy. The garlic bread with cheese is a must, and the polpette melts in the mouth. The fries are also worth a try: thin and crispy, they will be the perfect complement to your meal.
And for dessert, the chocolate-hazelnut mousse is a dream: light and flavourful, it is enhanced by a divine salty crunch. The Neapolitan lemon cake is a must-try: lemony to perfection, it is perfectly dense and enhanced with cream for a perfect balance in the mouth.
Since I can’t always be in Naples or New York, you’ll definitely find me regularly behind a slice of pizza at Locali!
Ciao e buon appetito amore!
