Not too long ago, I discovered Maison Jacynthe’s makeup collection and completely fell in love with the brand! I obviously wanted to try more products from their wide selection of makeup, serums, essential oils, etc., and here I am! I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to review a natural spray deodorant and a perfume (a brand new item that sold out as soon as it was launched!!). These were sent by Maison Jacynthe in exchange for my honest review*.

What distinguishes Maison Jacynthe from other cosmetics company is several things. For me, what stands out the most is truly the love that is put in the design and fabrication of each product, the expertise, and also the ingredients that make the products so fabulous and efficient. In fact, the ingredient list is usually short and consists of natural ingredients that you can recognize by their names – that is extremely rare in the world of cosmetics!

Here are the products that I tested:

Geranium deodorant: This is a spray deodorant (30mL retail price: $17.85). The bottle indicates: “long-lasting, neutralizes bacteria”, it is 100% natural, and can be used on feet and under armpits. Among the ingredients is sandalwood essential oil, which destroys the bacteria that is responsible for the bad smell when we sweat.

I am one of those persons who sweat easily (stress+cafeine=sweaty me!) and I have tried a TON of deodorants/antiperspirants and none seemed to be working perfectly. I tried this one for the first time on a particularly stressful day and was happily surprised to discover that my armpits still smelled fresh at the end of the day (yes, the nice geranium scent remains and you can never tell that you’ve been sweating!! YAY)! The scent can be a little strong though so I would recommend applying just the tiniest spray possible. I also wouldn’t recommend wearing perfume AND this deodorant because it will be too much. Anyone who likes a fresh and unique scent will like this deodorant no matter their gender! Also, it does not stain clothes!!! No more white marks on your black clothes YAY!

Vingt-Deux perfume: This is a roll-on perfume (10 mL retail price: $50.00), also available in a 50mL bottle ($90.00). I am very picky when it comes to perfume because if a scent is too strong or too sweet, I easily become nauseous. For this reason, I always go for a perfume that smells fresh, citrusy, etc.

 

 

Even though Vingt-Deux‘s description is very complete on the company’s website, I find I never know what to expect about a perfume until I am able to smell it on my skin. The verdict? I think I have found my new favourite scent for the summer!!!

The scent is described on the website as “oriental and floral fragrances that reveal head notes of spicy bergamot“. In fact, top notes are bergamot, cardamom, pink bay, and rum; heart notes are peony, geranium rosat, and ylang-ylang; and base notes are maple, benzoin, vanilla, and labdanum. I honestly LOVE this scent: it is super fresh, very “herbal/green” I find, and it makes me feel relaxed. Perfect for any season! The wear is also quite good and I was not afraid to reapply when needed because it is not a super strong “in your face” kind of smell. It is more on the delicate side, which I find is perfect!

Once again, Maison Jacynthe’s products blow my mind with their high quality, amazing scents, and beautiful packaging/details. I highly recommend!! Next step: I would love to visit their main store, it looks so pretty! <3
