If diamonds are a girl’s best friend, your makeup’s best friend is certainly… a pair of false lashes! I was offered two pairs of Signare false lashes to enhance my eye makeup without too much effort. The brand was founded by Maina who takes inspiration from her Senegalese roots to name her different styles.
Since the lashes are as impressive as the founder’s story, I decided to share with you Maina’s inspiring journey. Portrait of a fierce woman and entrepreneur.
The woman behind Signare false lashes
Maina Gueye: engineer by day, beauty entrepreneur by night. And never without fabulous lashes!
After completing her bachelor’s degree, Maina left her home country, Senegal, to study industrial computing and electricity in France. After completing a two-year degree, she then goes on to study automation engineering.
Despite working in a mostly male-dominated industry, Maina always enjoyed putting time and effort into her makeup and her looks. However, working full time doesn’t leave her much time in the morning. One thing that she particularly hated was struggling with mascara in the morning, so she switched to false lashes.
She rapidly discovered how much of a time-saver this trick was, plus it looked so much better! She then had the idea to launch her own false lashes brand in order to share this tip with women all over the world.
This strong woman has both the brains and the looks, and nothing can ever stop her. The proof? Her lashes are divine – and this may be just the beginning.
Review of Fi Todj and Nattu Aduna false lashes
Signare false lashes are handmade and have a very natural-looking appearance. On the eyes, they look very glamourous and add the perfect touch of va-va-voom to any makeup look, natural or dramatic. The lashes are very lightweight, soft and super flexible so they fit any eye shape. The band is a little thicker than other lashes which adds a bit more drama to the look.
Another thing that distinguishes Signare lashes is the packaging: each pair comes in the cutest sturdy container to keep your lashes and treat them like VIPs (as you should!).
Throughout her childhood, Maina was deeply rooted in the charm of the Senegalese culture, which still influences her to this day. In fact, the names of each style are inspired by the languages spoken in Senegal.
