I have been doing face masks at least twice a week lately, in an effort to use up my stock, but also because, why not? Winter is the official season of self-care in my book and I think everyone’s skin needs a little more TLC in the winter. Well, at least here in Canada because our winters are super cold and devastating for the skin. Recently, I decided to try the Fresh Crème Ancienne Ultimate Nourishing Honey Mask to give my skin a boost.
I received a deluxe sample a while back and thought it looked too fancy to use right away. And I was right: the full size of the mask is C$195.00!! It will be a while before I decide to splurge on such expensive skincare 🙁
Fresh Crème Ancienne Ultimate Nourishing Honey Mask: the review
Last week, I finally decided to indulge in this sugary mask. The first thing I noticed is the amazing smell: sweet and delicious, and I almost want to eat this! The texture reminds me of caramel or maple spread, and I just want to lather this all over my face!! Which I did, of course 😉
This mask “is a one-of-a-kind hydrating treatment made with pure honey for a unique texture that instantly melts into the skin, delivering 6 hours of supreme nourishment while improving elasticity”. I was very surprised by the “unique texture” which is very thick and grainy, almost like an exfoliant which is not common for a mask.
The product does melt slightly on the face but the texture remains quite sugary. I took advantage of that and used the product to exfoliate my skin before leaving it on for 8-10 min. Once again, that smeeeell <3
Fresh describes this mask as helping with the loss of firmness and elasticity, as well as fine lines and wrinkles. I can’t tell if this worked for me, but I noticed that my skin was a LOT more hydrated after just one use. My skin was soft and felt great.
The product contains antioxidant echinacea, which “helps to improve the skin’s resilience to environmental aggressors and promote a radiant glow”, according to Sephora. Truly, this mask is a serious multitasker!
At first glance, I thought the deluxe sample was small and I would use it up after 2 uses, but it turns out a little goes a long way with this product! Small but mighty 😉
I would totally recommend this mask, especially for people with dry skin. I enjoyed the intense hydration it gave my skin and the exfoliating effect was nice. So far, I am never disappointed with Fresh!!
What is your favourite mask for the wintertime?

Like you, I received a deluxe sample size of this mask and looooved it, but I don’t know if I could ever justify splurging on the full size. The weird thing is, I went to go see it in stores and the colour/texture of the full size looks different – more creamy, I guess? Even when you Google images of the product, it looks different to the product inside the deluxe sample.
Oh wow, you are so right! I just googled images and there is a clear difference in texture! Hmm maybe the samples we got were old, and that’s why they’re more grainy? :/
Anyways, I hope I find a hydrating mask that’s this good but more affordable 🙁
That’s what I think too! The texture in the samples remind me of when honey starts to crystalize, so maybe that’s what it’s doing…
Farmacy has a less expensive honey mask, although it’s quite different to the Fresh mask!
Ohhh good to know! I’ll check that out! Thanks a lot! <3
